About Ms. Kasic
Welcome! I am so excited to have you in my classroom this year! In this class we will be sharpening our reading, analyzing, writing, reasoning, speaking, listening, and research skills. I strive to create a curriculum that will benefit students by engaging them in texts (books, articles, short stories, and multimedia) and having them create both formal academic writing and their own multi-media texts and presentations. For me, English class is about learning how to explore and engage with the greater world around us.
This year presents some unique challenges that we will need to overcome as a class, school, and community. I want to stress that although this year may be different than any other school year, my goal remains the same: to get students excited about reading and expressing themselves. That being said, students will need to be flexible as we navigate new ways of learning together. There may be changes in the schedule, how we are meeting as a class, and what kind of work is completed in class or at home. I will do my best to be flexible as well, and give students time to adapt to these changes.
A little about me: I graduated from Colorado State University in 2017, with an English degree and license in secondary English education. This will be my fourth year at CCMS. I have always wanted to be a teacher, and to prepare for my career, I spent three months teaching in Livingston, Zambia. Outside the classroom, I am an avid skier, enjoy reading and try to spend as much time outdoors as I can.
